Topaz
places heavy emphasis on Research and Development, as without
research there cannot be any progress. Additionally, our research
is not limited to mere product research. Research for us includes
codifying and developing our systems: i.e., our production
process systems, distribution systems, dealership section
and support system, customer service system and even after
sales service system.
Both
these areas of research stand equal in importance, ensuring
that we provide a complete 'product' - from the quality of
our tangible physical product to the quality intangible value
added services. Lubricants research at Topaz is kept at the
highest standards. Often we receive orders for specialty lubricants.
These are lubricants that must meet specific requirements
as required by our customers. Each of these 'new' lubricants
undergoes stringent tests to ensure quality.
But
we do not stop there. Products from Topaz are enhanced to
exceed by as much as possible the basic requirements of our
customers. These even include adding extra lubricant components
like our additives that enhance lubricant performance and
reliability. Often lubricant blending processes are repeated
until the product meets our own stringent controls regardless
of customers' basics requirements. In fact it is a point of
hour for us to exceed customer requirements on a regular basis.

LABORATORY
TESTING
– fully equipped
At
TOPAZ we have fully-equipped State-of-the-art laboratory,
which meets local and international standards, is capable
of conducting a wide range of analytical tests for customers
as well as fulfilling our own research functions. However,
ours is not a static laboratory. Topaz is constantly upgrading
and expanding the range of functions the laboratory is capable
of.
Currently
we regularly conduct in-house testing, analysis of customer
products, specification checks, quality control tests on our
own and customer lubricant products. This is done to ensure
we meet our customer satisfaction goals, our own quality standards
and our research and development aims.

1.Cold
Cranking Simulator (CCS)
Application: The CCS-2100 is
used to determine the apparent viscosity of engine oils at low
temperatures at shear rates similar to those at starting condition
of cold engines. It is capable of measuring the apparent viscosity
of oils at test temperature ranging from -5°C to -35°C in increment
of 5°C. |
|
2. Atomic Absorption Spectrophotomery (AAS)
Application:
Used for the elemental analysis of lubricating oils containing
any one/or any combination of Zn, Ca, Mg, Na & Cu.
|
|
3. Water Separability Equipment
Application: Used for measurement of
the ability of petroleum oils or synthetic fluids to separate
from water. It is also used for specification of new oils
and monitoring of in-service oils.
|
|
4. Kinematic Viscosity Equipment @ 40°C & 100°C
Application:
Used to determine the kinematic viscosity of liquid petroleum
products, both transparent and opaque, by measuring the time
for a volume to flow under gravity through a calibrated glass
capillary viscometer.
|
|
5. Foaming Test Apparatus
Application:
Used to determine the following characteristics of a lubricating
oil at specified temperatures. Means of empirically rating
the foaming tendency and the stability of the foam are described.
|
|
6. Color Meter
Application:
Cover Visual determination of the color of a variety of petroleum
products using the Analis Colorimeter Model P536 and it is
in accordance to the ASTM D1500 method.
|
|
7. Density Meter.
Application:
Used to measure the density of petroleum products (mass per
unit volume) at specified temperature.
|
|
8. Flash Point Open Cup/Close Cup
Application:
Used to determine the flash point & fire point of petroleum
products by a semi automatic open/close cup apparatus. This
equipment is applicable to all petroleum products with the
flash point above 79°C & below 400°C.
|
|
9. Mittler Toledo DL5 3 Automatic Titrator
Application:
Used to measure the total base number of the petroleum products
by titration with perchloric acid in glacial acetic acid.
|
10.
Pour Point
Application:
Used to measure the lowest temperature at which the fluid will
flow when cooled under prescribed conditions. An indicator of
the ability of an oil or distilled fuel to flow at cold operating
temperature.
